Forget blood, sweat and tears – this event is all about mud, sweat and fears.
This year the event will NOT run onto the sea-wall of the Nobby;s Breakwall. This is the bit with ocean both sides. The 700m in distance will be regained by moving the main western turn point from Wharf Rd to the Honeysuckle Foreshore. Great spot to turn and a great spot for lunch afterwards. The 1/2 Marathon runner will go another 550m past this, on the start of their event.
Anyone can run on a road but take on the Bay Adventure’s Summer Run and you will be venturing into ‘badge of honour’ territory. There is nothing boring about this 11km all-terrain course, which features 1km on the beach, 3km on pathways, 1km of gravel track and a 6km dog track. Oh, and did we mention it was hilly! Test yourself with this adventure run.
Sand running is tough at the best of times but the recent big swells along the Merewether-Bar Beach stretch which makes up the Big Beach Challenge course have resulted in some extra challenging changes to the surface of the beach.
