Welcome to Event Update 2 for the 2026 Lake Macquarie Triathlon Festival.

Race day is almost here and we are looking forward to welcoming you to Speers Point Park this Sunday 8 March for a fantastic day of racing on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie.

This update includes all of the key information from Update 1, along with some additional race week details to help you prepare for the event. Inside you’ll find important information including race kit collection, event schedules, course maps, parking and race day tips.

If you entered on behalf of others, please forward this email to your teammates so they have access to all the important race information.


Saturday 7 March – Race Kit Collection

10:00am – 4:30pm

Race kits can also be collected on race morning, however we recommend Saturday collection if possible to help make race morning smoother for everyone.

Race Weekend Schedule

Saturday 7 March – Race Kit Collection, Speers Point Park
10.00am – 4.30pm

Sunday 8 March – Race Day, Speers Point Park

5.30am – Race Office open for race kit collection
*We recommend collecting your race kit on Saturday if possible but if you are unable, you are welcome to pick up on race morning.*

6.50am – Standard Distance Triathlon
8.15am – Sprint Distance Triathlon
9.00am – Super Sprint Triathlon
9.15am – Junior Triathlon
9.30am – Aquathlon
10.00am – Dantia Open Water Swims (2km and 1km)

FIRST TIMERS & Q&A SESSION

If this is your first triathlon, we encourage you to attend one of our Q&A sessions with our Race Director on Saturday.

1:00pm – Juniors
2:00pm – Seniors

These sessions will cover:

• How to set up your bike in transition
• Race flow and course direction
• What to bring on race day
• Tips to help you feel confident before the start

You may wish to collect your race kit at Speers Point Park beforehand, then head over to the Q&A session which will be held next to the transition area.

 
THE SUPER SPRINT AT LAKE MAC TRI IS THE 2026 AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT FOR AUS TRIATHLON MEMBERS 
 
 
FOOD AND COFFEE
 

To support local park vendors, there will be no external food trucks at the event but we will have a coffee van and ice cream truck on site. 

Our friends at Table 1 Café, located just 100m from the event compound, will be open from 5:30am for coffee and from 7:00am for food for competitors and spectators.

Harry & Lola’s Café, located at the western end of the park, will also be open from 7:00am.

 
 
 FAQ's

1. Race Information
The Race Information Booklet is available to download at the top of this email. The event will be conducted under AusTriathlon rules and takes place at Speers Point Park.

2. Finisher Medals
All participants will receive a finisher medal. Category winner medals are no longer offered except for Championship events (AusTriathlon members only in the Super Sprint).

3. Entries
Entries are online only and will close once race capacity is reached or one hour before the event, whichever comes first.

4. Bikes
All roadworthy bikes are permitted. Riders must wear an Australian Standard approved helmet that is correctly fitted.

5. Wetsuits
As per AusTriathlon rules, wetsuits are permitted (optional) if the water temperature is below 24.6°C. The current water temperature is approximately 23°C. Final confirmation will be announced on race morning.

6. Swim Safety
Water safety is provided by Swansea Belmont SLSC. The course will be closely monitored by motorised rescue boats and paddle boards positioned throughout the swim.

7. Bike Compound (Transition)
The bike compound opens at 5:15am on Sunday and is located next to the finish line. A race briefing will be conducted approximately 15 minutes before each event.

8. Run Course
The run course is a 2.5km out-and-back for all events except the Short Course and Junior events. Separate turnaround points will be clearly marked.

9. Spectators
Spectators are welcome. Please ensure the course remains clear at all times and avoid crossing or obstructing competitors. Outside assistance is not permitted.

10. Food & Drinks
Food and beverages will be available throughout the weekend from park vendors and additional on-site options.

11. Parking

Saturday (Race Kit Collection):
Parking is available in the main Speers Point Park car park, located close to the race admin pavilion.

Sunday:
The Park Road car park will be open until 6:30am only. Vehicles will not be able to exit until approximately 10:30am (after the bike leg).

After 6:30am, please park along Creek Reserve Road or Macquarie Fields.

12. Cycle Course
The cycle course is closed to traffic. However, please remain alert for pedestrians or authorised vehicles that may enter the course.

13. Swim Conditions
Lake Macquarie is saltwater, although the Speers Point area may feel fresher at times.

14. Teams
For team entries, the Rider and Runner will wait at the bike for the changeover of the timing chip. Please take care when leaving the transition area and watch for other athletes.

15. Event Updates
Any weather or course updates will be communicated via email and social media.

16. Refund Policy
