Fernleigh 15

The Athlete's Foot Fernleigh 15 returns on Sunday 18th October 2026.

This 15km point-to-point event from Adamstown to Belmont features exclusive access, with the Fernleigh Track closed to the public for the duration of the event. When you buy a ticket, you have the option to buy a bus ticket to take you back to the start after the race. Run, walk or roll the iconic Fernleigh Track and soak up the beauty of this former rail line – now a beloved running and riding route through Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

On the day we also have the Fernleigh 1500 - a 1500m race for kids to be a part of the race day action.

Where does the Fernleigh 15 event start and finish?

The event starts at the corner of Park Avenue and Bailey Street, Adamstown, on the northern end of the Fernleigh Track. The event ends 15km along the Fernleigh track in the park off the Fernleigh track at Belmont TAFE, Alick Street.

What distances are available?

The main event is a 15km run, walk or roll (for wheelchair users). For children under 17yrs, we also have the Fernleigh 1500, a 1500m event that starts and finishes in Belmont, the finish area of the Fernleigh 15.

When do entries close?

Entries close the day before the event, unless sold out earlier. We recommend entering sooner, as a late entry fee applies from two weeks before race day.

Can I transfer my entry to someone else if I can't race?

Yes, you can transfer your entry to another person through the Crowdcatcher entry portal (link above) by clicking the red “Transfer Now” button. A $10 transfer fee applies. Please note: transfers are only available within this event — we do not transfer entries to other H Events.

Are there finishers medals?

Yes, all participants who cross the finish line will receive a commemorative medal.

Are there prizes or age group awards?

We no longer present age group medals, as many went unclaimed in the past and this created unnecessary waste. To reduce our environmental impact, only the overall male and female winners will receive prizes.

Can I run with my dog?

While we love furry friends, dogs aren’t permitted on the course. With thousands of people on the track, it just isn’t safe for them or other participants. Thank you for understanding.

What is your refund policy?

We offer: 70% refund up to 6 weeks before the event, 40% refund from 6 weeks to 14 days before the event and no refunds within 14 days of the event. Entries can’t be transferred to other H Events, but you can transfer your entry to another person via the entry portal.

Where will results and race photos be available?

Official results will be published on Multisport Australia website, and race day photos will be available through Marathon Photos.

Can I volunteer?

Yes, pease head to the volunteer tab to register. We always appreciate the amazing volunteers who help make our events possible.
