Wild Ride is back! Sat 2 Sept
After 2 years of COVID and a year of flood crisis, the 14th annual Quarry Mining Wollombi Wild Ride will again finally take place on Saturday 2 September. Event organiser Paul Humphreys of local sports event company H Events reports that some participants have literally been waiting 3 years to participate in the event. ‘They have been so patient and are now looking forward to visiting the Wollombi Valley again for the community ride event. It has been a tricky financial balance to keep the event going but with the help of the local Wollombi and Laguna community, local authorities, and our major sponsor Quarry Mining, we are glad the event can continue to be staged’, said Humphreys.
About the ride
Now in its 14th year the event has always been popular as a challenging but achievable event for riders. Staged from the back paddock of the Wollombi Tavern (home of the famous Dr Jurds Jungle Juice) the event is staged on mostly gravel roads or fire-trails with plenty of solid climbs and descents in the 30km and 64km rides. A more modest 13km ride is also on offer for novice or family riders. All courses meander through UnderCliff Winery.
With limited spots still available for riders, interested riders should go to www.hevents.com.au to enter.
The event compound will be behind the Wollombi Tavern off 2994 Great North Rd with the 64km event starting at 8.00am, 30km starts at 9.15am and 13km starts at 9.30am. Event information is available at www.wollombiwildride.net or contact H Events on 0249348138.
