Surfer takes out the Big Beach Challenge

It was fitting that a surfing enthusiast won the Big Beach Challenge, which was again held this year on the finals day of Surfest.

Keen surfer and even keener runner Stu Adams only entered on the eve of the gruelling15km sand-running event but again beat home Sean Dunleavy for victory. Jennifer Hynes was the women’s 15km winner.

The event has grown in popularity since being reborn at Merewether beach a few years back and taking up residence on Surfest Sunday.

Event organisers expect the Big Beach Challenge to become a major sand-running event on the Australian running calendar.
