RACE UPDATE AND REMINDERS #1 of 2
|
Thanks for racing or volunteering with us on Sat 25 May 2024 at Forster in the NSWTRI Club Championships. This is number 1 of 2 race updates. Please read the updates to make sure you are well informed on any changes.
At H Events we are excited to work with NSWTRI and the whole Triathlon Club network to make this race a safe, exciting and fun event. The event is mostly unchanged from last year, with some small alterations after considering feedback from last year. Points to note include:
- Start times are later for Seniors (9.00am) and earlier for Juniors (8.00am)
- The bike course will again use Lincoln St to get from Hadley St to Boundary.
- The bike course will have a change at the Head St turn point. Riders heading out on the first lap will use the car park (opposite Cross St) to divert around the turn point. This will provide more room for turning.
- While we will continue to cross the iconic Forster Bridge, due to another market in Tuncurry on race day, the run course will not run all the way into Tuncurry (as in previous years) . The run course will turn shortly after crossing the bridge. The extra distance will be made up on the breakwall section of the course near the coast guard. The run course will again be 2 laps for the club distance triathlon.
- A video race briefing will be available in the next race update. Please watch this video when it is sent, as there will be limited opportunity for lengthy briefings on the day due to the rolling starts.
- If you have not booked a club tent site for the finish line, please email our race director Ja and let us know your club tent size and preferred location - ja@hevents.com.au

The swim is at Main Beach Forster for all adults and in the Ocean Baths (just 150m away) for all Juniors. The full course will be 2 laps of a rectanglar course (anitclockwise) and one lap for half distance. The tide will be high. We will update you on forecast conditions in the final update. The Juniors will have a small seperate bike area next to the ocean baths. Junior swim is subject to water temperature.

Cycle Notes
The main course leaves from Main Beach Forster and rides south along North St to a turn point on Head St. At this point your will divert into the car park opposite Cross St and then exit on the other side and merge with bikes that are turning in the middle section. From that turn point riders do 3 laps (for the long course) which meander through the streets of Forster. A substantial traffic management plan is in place and over 45 traffic controllers, police and marshals will be in place. The roads are not closed to residents, however we have various plans in place to minimise the traffic at any time. Please take care to watch for rouge traffic on the course. The short course turns before Cliff St. The juniors 7-11y only use North St for their bike leg. DO NOT LITTER!!!
|
|
Run Notes
The main run leg is 2 loops for the full course. The first loop is 3.8km (to near finish line) and the final loop is 4.2km. The course is mostly flat except for the slight rise crossing the beautiful Forster Bridge. There are a few skinny sections of the run course. Please adjust your speed to navigate these safely. PLEASE BE COURTEOUS, and respectful when passing. DO NOT LITTER!!!
|
|
Transition notes (full transition walk through is available at 5pm Friday)
The transition area is in the car park next to the main Forster Beach. Be conscious of the other active competitors when approaching the area. Racks will be marked with letters to find your bike. A detailed map will be available in the next update. This will be relative to final construction status, waves and access options. The tar in the car park is not perfect, so feel free to leave some thongs or other footwear at the swim entry to transition. We have some carpet, but cannot carpet the whole car park! The Surf Club construction is not quite completed but is being tided up for our event. The Junior (7-13 years) compound is located at the southern end of Main Beach next to the pool. DO NOT LITTER!!!
