MAITLAND RUNNING FESTIVAL 2025
RACE DAY: SUNDAY 1ST JUNE
RACE INFORMATION UPDATE 1 OF 2
|
Thank you for entering the Maitland Running Festival (formerly named Maitland River Run) on Sunday, 1st June. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to what promises to be an unforgettable day of running and a brilliant way to kick off the first day of winter!
This is the first of two event updates you’ll receive over the next 1.5 weeks. Please take a moment to read through the details, and feel free to forward this email to anyone you’ve entered on behalf of.
The event includes the following distances: The Mutual Bank Half Marathon, Quarry Mining 12km, KCE 8km, and 4km Fun Run.
Please see below for information on race kit collection, the course, and more. Please note: Race kit collection will be open on race morning only.
Recent rain course update!
All courses follow a scenic loop through Maitland, with each lap starting and finishing at the Maitland Regional Athletics Centre – perfect for spectator involvement! Note: that given recent rain we may need to make changes to the lower river path sections, but we have a contingency course along the new section of the top river foreshore paths, so will be able to proceed even if the river is flooded.
We will also be keeping you updated with the weather forecast in the lead-up to the event – let’s hope it clears up by race weekend!
We can’t wait to see you on race day. – The H Events Team

Online entries are still open, so why not invite your friends and family to join you on the day?

THANK YOU TO OUR VALUED SPONSORS

All events start and finish at Maitland Regional Athletics Centre.
Please arrive early to collect your race kit and warm up.

Where and when do I pick up my race kit? Race kits – including your bib number, timing chip, and any pre-purchased souvenir shirts – will be available for collection on race day Sunday 1st June, from 6:30am to 10:30am, at Maitland Regional Athletics Centre, High Street, Maitland. Please ensure you collect your kit at least 30 minutes before your race start time.
To streamline the process, please bring your phone so our check-in system can scan your registration. If you're unable to use your phone, manual check-in will also be available.
There will be a secure bag drop at the Registration Office for bags and phones. Change rooms are also available at the Athletics centre.
How to Collect Your Race Kit
Please follow this quick process on your phone when you arrive (our friendly staff will be there to guide you):
-
Using your phone, scan the QR code that we have printed at the rego area (not the QR code in your emails)
-
Enter your phone number or email used for registration
-
You’ll receive a code to your phone - enter it when prompted
-
Once confirmed, keep the phone screen open – it will show your name, DOB, and race number
-
Head to the registration desk and show your screen to our friendly staff
-
You'll receive your race number, timing chip, and event shirt (if you ordered one)
Collecting for someone else? As race kit collection is only available on race morning, we kindly ask that you do not collect kits on behalf of others. All participants will be able to collect their own kits near the start line with ease.

Each race distance follows a 4km loop starting and finishing at the Maitland Regional Athletics Centre - This world-class facility will serve as the start, finish, and lap area for each loop:
Runners will start with approximately 300m on the track before exiting through a gate on the western side of the facility. From there, the route continues along the path past the sports field, then across James Street into Odd Street (with traffic controllers in place).
Participants will then cross Hunter Street and continue along the path and shoulder of Hunter Street, heading towards the riverbank. The course then climbs onto the riverbank, heading north under the Belmore Bridge and towards the park on Sempill Street, just beyond the courthouse.
Runners will return via the same route, finishing each lap with the final 100m on the track. The course will be clearly marked throughout. (all subject to river conditions as mentioned above)
The Half Marathon will begin with a 1.1km section on the track before joining the main loop, completing five laps of the course.
|
Where can I park and what roads are closed? Ample parking is available at the Maitland Regional Athletics Centre and in the nearby skate park area. Please note that Odd Street and Hunter Street will be closed for the event. We kindly ask that you do not park in either of these streets.
What will be available at the aid stations? There will be two aid stations on the course, located at the 2km and 4km marks, offering water and electrolyte drinks. Please use the bins provided near and beyond these areas to dispose of cups responsibly.
Toilets are available at the Athletics Centre; however, there are none on the 4km loop. If you need to use the facilities during your race, please ensure you leave and re-enter the course at the same point.
Will there be food and coffee at the event? Our friends at Rotary East Maitland will be assisting with course marshalling and drink stations, and will also be serving coffee, tea, and other refreshments for spectators to enjoy.
