RACE UPDATE AND REMINDER #3 of 3
|
This is a reminder for those already entered in the postponed version of the 24th Quarry Mining Maitland Triathlon to be staged on 12 March. No changes from update 2, but .... the weather and river are looking great!!
For clarification everyone who did not request a refund by 30 Jan is still entered in the event. Our normal refund policy applies now. We do not defer or credit entries at this stage. The money is spent!
Have a read below and if you have questions about the event please contact us on paul@hevents.com.au or call out office on 0249348138. We look forward to seeing you on Sun 12 March at Morpeth.
Race Starts are:
- Long Course - 6.45am (subject to light)
- Standard Course - 7.05am
- Sprint Course - 7.25am
Note: This event is the first of 2 versions of this event in 2023 (due to the postponement in 2022). To be clear, the 8 Oct event is a qualifier for the Sprint and Long Course Worlds in Townsville in 2024.... NOT this 12 March event. As the 8 Oct event will likely sell out, all entrants in this 12 March event will have priority access when entries open for the Oct event.

Cycle Notes
- The start of the ride is a 100m rise. Start in the correct gear for this and also consider your shoe entry.
- The course is the best sections of Duckenfield and McFarlanes Rd . There are 2 climbs in each lap, but otherwise flat. Thanks to Maitland Council for the recent pot hole repairs and for delaying their planned road work for us.
- There are 9 traffic controllers and 10 cycle course marshals. Traffic interaction is mixed with a closed section through main street, open wide sections with some local traffic and skinnier sections with very limited traffic. You are granted right of way in some circumstances, but should always be conscious of potential conflict. The road is hard!!
- Roads are country roads, with rough tar finish. If you stop pedalling, you wont go far!!.
- This is a NON DRAFTING event. Technical officials will monitor this.
- This year we will have a toilet on the corner of McFarlanes and Duckenfield Rd's.
- There are no drink stations on the bike course. Emergency water is available at the village turn point, if you get desperate. We suggest you start with 2 bidons for the Long Course.
- The turn point in village has been moved to the easten side of the bridge to reduce the risk of collision. This reduces the Long Course by 1km and the Standard by 500m.
- CHECK OUT SAVANNAH ON SWAN CAFE WHICH IS RIGHT AT THE TURN POINT NEAR THE BRIDGE

|
Run Notes
- The course is very flat.
- There is 1 drink station, on each 2.5km lap. This will have water and Powerade.
- The toilets are very close to the run course.
- The course is closed to traffic and is 55% new concrete path, 40% gravel road and 5% tar. The recent flooding did affect the gravel section, but we are doing our best to make repairs.
- You will get plenty of support from the crowd!
|
Please pass on to relay competitors. More updates next week. See you soon
