Lake Macquarie Fernleigh15 - entries open
H Events will again partner with Athletics NSW to stage this event in Newcastle/Lake Macquarie on it's now traditional weekend of Sunday 19 October. The event will now be known as the Lake Macquarie Fernleigh15 after the generous support of Lake Macquarie City Council. The event offers just one course and one distance over the beautiful Fernleigh Track. Starting from the Adamstown end of the track, the course meanders along this cycling/walking track and finishes at the old Belmont train station. With a tunnel at the 2km mark you really get the sense that this track is the redevelopment of the old Fernleigh train line. Hidden behind leafy suburbia, the course track runs through national park and has an incredible atmosphere. The event has a unique start, broken into waves along the 4m wide track and the consistent surface allows for wheel chair categories.

The event is ideal for elite or recreational runners with the range of finish times reflecting this. Kurt Fearnley improved on his time from 2013 to record 33.54min in the wheel chair category with the overall finish times ranging from 46.56 min to 3hrs. There is a great sense of community pride at this event with a large number of stakeholders and groups involved in the events success.
