HENDERSON NEWCASTLE MARATHON 2025 RACE INFORMATION UPDATE 3 of 3
|
The SOLD OUT Henderson Newcastle Marathon, taking place on Saturday 19 April, is nearly here! Reaching the start line of a marathon or half marathon is an achievement in itself and we are so excited to welcome you to the event.
This is the final of three event updates for all registered runners. If you entered on behalf of someone else, please make sure to forward this email to them. All details from the first two updates are also included below for your reference. Please watch the race briefing video below from our race director, Ja, with important course information.
The forecast is looking beautiful, but warm – please ensure you stay well hydrated in the days leading up to the race and on the day itself, using a mix of water and electrolytes. Keep up with your pre-race and on-course fuelling to stay energised and feeling your best throughout the event.
Race Kit Collection Race kits can be collected on Friday 18 April (Public Holiday) between 8:00am and 5:00pm at The Station Newcastle. Join us to soak up the pre-race atmosphere. There will be a live DJ, food and coffee vans, merchandise for sale and more. It’s the perfect way to get excited for race day and connect with fellow runners.
Transfers Please note that no further ticket transfers of entries to other participants will be accepted after midnight on Thursday 17th April. Thank you for your understanding.
Self-Seeded Start The events are self-seeded, so there are no assigned start zones. If you’re chasing a fast time, we recommend starting closer to the front. If you’re planning to run at a more relaxed pace, starting further back will help keep everyone find their pace.
If you have any questions not covered in the below update, please feel free to contact us at admin@hevents.com.au.
Best of luck for your race – we’ll see you at race kit collection! – The H Events Team

The Marathon and Half Marathon start and finish at The Station (formerly Newcastle Rail Station), located on the corner of Wharf Road and Watt Street. The Newcastle Light Rail stop is just 200 metres from the finish line, providing easy access for participants and supporters.
Please note the following course information:
-
Both the Marathon and Half Marathon will follow the same route, with all participants running in the same direction and generally keeping to the right.
-
Marathon is 4 loops, Half Marathon is 2 loops.
-
The start line for both events is on the southern side (city side) of Wharf Road, heading east.
-
Each lap of the course will return to the grounds of The Station before continuing, with the final lap taking runners directly to the finish line. This format is designed to enhance the experience for both runners and spectators.
-
The course will run in an anti-clockwise direction.
|
Your timing chip is attached to your race bib, which you pick up at race kit collection, but it must be removed and worn on your shoe. The timing chip is separate and reusable and must be returned to us in the finish area.
Wearing your bib and chip:
-
Attach your bib to the front of your shirt using the supplied pins, or to the front if using a race belt.
-
Remove the timing chip from the bib packet and secure it to your shoe lace.
-
If your shoes don’t have laces, you can ask for a cable tie at the registration table.
Please note:
Please see photo of how to attach your chip below.

GETTING TO THE START LINE ON RACE DAY
|
Both the Marathon and Half Marathon will finish at The Station on the Foreshore, located at the corner of Wharf Road and Watt Street, Newcastle.

-
Light Rail: Disembark at the Queens Wharf station, which is closest to the event site. You can check the timetable here: Newcastle Light Rail Timetable
-
Paid Parking: Available at Wright Lane (Honeysuckle) and Argyle Street Parking Station.
-
On Foot: Wharf Road can be accessed via a pedestrian crossing from the CBD near Market Street.

Bag Drop and Security
A secure bag drop will be available at the registration area at 'The Station Newcastle' near the start/finish line. We kindly ask you to bring only essential items, as space is limited. We will only give bags back to people with their number so please bring your race number to pick up your bag.
Drink Stations
Drink stations will be positioned at approximately 2.2km, 4.9km, 6.2km, 8.2km, and the lap point at 10.5km. Water and electrolyte drinks will be available at all stations. If you require a specific electrolyte or fuel, we recommend leaving it at the lap point at The Station on the morning of the race. Please alert volunteers as you approach to ensure it is handed to you promptly. Littering Please help us protect Newcastle’s beautiful coastline by disposing of energy gel and snack wrappers in the bins provided along the course. Let’s work together to keep packaging out of the water and preserve the environment for everyone to enjoy.
First Aid
A professional paramedical team will be present throughout the event, with mobile units stationed along the course. If you require assistance, please speak to the nearest marshal. All marshals will be wearing vests.
Toilets
Toilets are located at the start/finish area, Nobbys Beach, and Honeysuckle. If you leave the course to use the facilities, you must re-enter at the same point.
Pacers
Thanks to to legends from Dream Chafers and Newcastle Flyers, Pacer groups will be available in both the marathon and half marathon. Lookout for their H Events pacer flags!
