RACE UPDATE 2 of 3

(Important Flood Changes)
 
Thanks for entering this great new event. Due to the flooding of the local rivers, the harbour is unfortunately now unsafe to swim. Luckily we have a swimming pool on the cycle and run course and will now relocate the event to Pitt St Reserve on the eastern side of Stockton behind the pool. Our swim will be in the pool using a rolling wave start with maximum numbers in the pool at any one point. Swim distances will be halved for the Sprint and Standard events to allow our schedule to remain intact. Aquathlon and Paratriathlon events will remain the same. The cycle and runs courses are unchanged except for start and finish point on the course. 
 
This will mean a new start and finish location for all events and a new swim venue for the Aquathlon, Triathlons and Paratriathlon events. Note: 
 
Hit 106.9 Stockton Sunset 7k - Friday 11 Mar 6pm 
Eyeline Aquathlon - Saturday - 12 Mar - 9am
Standard Distance Triathlon - Sunday 13 Mar - 6.30am (note earlier)
Sprint Distance Triathlon - Sunday 13 Mar - 7.40am (note earlier) 
Ocean Paratriathlon - Sunday 13 Mar - 8.50am (note earlier)

HIT 106.9 STOCKTON SUNSET 7km

FRIDAY 11 MARCH 6.00PM
 
This very cool twilight fun run will be the first event of the weekend and is a great opportunity to test your 'lockdown' or pre event fitness. The event will start near the finish line and do a small lap of the park and then head west along the Foreshore Paths to a turn point approx. 3.5km further along. You will then run back to the finish line. You will need to stay right on the path.  
 
Registration starts at 4.45pm (change from previous mail) at the Pitt St Reserve behind Stockton Swimming Pool, with the event starting at 6pm. There are finisher medals for everyone that finishers and we will have a presentation on the stage at 7.00pm. Rotary will be on hand with some refreshment and food for sale, but if you are after something more substantial check out the General Washington Hotel, just 300m from the finish line near the Ferry Station.  Parking is available in Pitt St, on the grass off the road. Please be careful not to park in residents driveways!
 

EYELINE AQUATHLON 

750m swim (8 laps) and 5km run (2 x 2.5km laps) 
SATURDAY 12 MARCH 9.00AM
 
This event is an ideal tester for those who love to swim and run, but are not keen to hit the bike. The new event location is at the southern side of Pitt St Reserve behind Stockton Swimming Pool. The event is also a qualifying race for anyone keen to travel to the World Champs. The event will swim in Stockton pool in an amended swim course of 8 laps, in a clockwise rectangle. Registration starts at 7.30am and the event starts at 9am from the inside the Stockton Swimming Pool.
Parking is available in Pitt St, on the grass off the road. Please be careful to not park in residents driveways!
 
Rotary will be on hand with some refreshment and food for sale, but if you are after something more substantial check out Lexies Cafe just 300m up the road. 
 
Due to the pool swim, wetsuits are not allowed. 
 
 
 

TRIATHLONS AND PARATRIATHLON

Sunday 13 March - Standard 6.30am, Sprint 7.40am, ParaTriathlon - 8.50am
Sunday's event will be the grand finale of the weekend with athletes of all standards from beginners to Paralympians. We have relocated the event to Pitt St Reserve on the southern side of Stockton poolRegistration is possible on Saturday from 9.00am to 4.00pm and also starts at 5.30am on Sunday, with the event starting at 6.30am for the Standard from the inside the Stockton Swimming Pool.
 
The ParaTriathlon race kit collection and briefing will be Saturday at the General Washington Hotel at 3.30pm on crn Hunter and Mitchell St. 
 
The swims will be in the pool using a rolling wave start with maximum numbers in the pool at any one point. Swim distances are:
  1. Standard Triathlon - 750m (8 laps) - From 6.30am - Please know your estimated swim time for seeding
  2. Sprint Triathlon - 375m (4 laps) - From 7.40am - Please know your estimated swim time for seeding
  3. ParaTriathlon - 750m (8 laps) - From 8.50am
  4. Wetsuits are not allowed due to the water temperature.

The cycle and runs courses are unchanged except for start and finish point on the course. The Standard distance event will swim 750m, ride 40km (8 x 5km laps) and run 10km (4 x 2.5km laps). The Sprint Triathlon  will swim 375m, ride 20km (4 x 5km laps) and run 5km (2 x 2.5km laps) and ParaTriathlon distance events will swim 750m, ride/handcycle 20km (4 X 5km laps) and run/race chair 5km (2 x 2.5km laps).
 
Early Parking (5.15am - 6.15am) for the Sunday event will be in Pitt St Reserve off Pitt St next to the event compound. You must approach from King St and turn right into Pitt St and drive approx. 400m to the parking, which is OFF the street on the left in the park. You will not get out of the parking until 10.30am. DO NOT park on Pitt St or any part of the course. If you arrive after 6.15am you will need to park in the streets of Stockton. Please be respectful of residents and reduce doors slamming and chatter. 
 
FERRY from NEWCASTLE
If you are staying in Newcastle, the Ferry will be running from 5.05am. The Ferry Station is only 350m from the event compound, and centrally located at Newcastle. The trip is just 6 - 8 min. Bikes are allowed.
