Additional activity and Changed Traffic Conditions
There will be 2 multisport events staged in Newcastle on the above dates. The events are:
20 Feb 2021 – annual City of Newcastle Paratriathlon and Aquathlon
21 FEB 2021 - annual Sparke Helmore Newcastle City Triathlon
To facilitate the safety of the competitors in, and general public around this event, there will be some road and footpath closures and other changed traffic conditions on the following roads/paths. During these times you can expect a large number of cyclists, hand cycles and runners to be using the roadways and footpaths. The events are COVID safe, however we seek your assistance in making the event safe and successful for the participants and public.
Saturday 20 Feb – 5.00am to 9.30am* - Exact times below

oWharf Rd (east of Watt St) – closed 5.00am – 9.00am
o* Horseshoe Beach Rd – closed 5.00am – 11.00am (access to Nobbys car park from 9.00am)
oShortland Esplanade (Nobby’s to Zarra St) – closed 5.00am – 9.00am
oFort Drive – closed 5.00am – 9.00am
oNobbys Rd – closed 5.00am – 9.00am
oThe harbour side footpath and Tug Berth Rd along Wharf Rd from Watt St to Horseshoe Beach and the Pilot Station – closed 5am – 11.00am

Sunday 21 Feb - 5am to 12.30pm – Exact times below
·Note: This event is the 28th annual Newcastle Triathlon for novice, recreational and corporate competitors.
oWharf Rd (east of Watt St) – closed 5.00am – 12.30pm
oShortland Esplanade (Zarra St – Watt St) – closed 5.00am – 10.30am
oShortland Esplanade (Nobby’s Rd to Zarra St) – closed 5.00am – 11.30am
oFort Drive – closed 5.00am – 11.00am
oNobbys Rd – closed 5.00am – 11.00am
oYork Dr in King Edward Park – 5.00am -10.30am
oThe Terrace closed park side and one way down- 5.00am-10.30am
oReserve Rd, Ordnance St, Watt St (south of Church St) – 5.00am -10.30am
oScott St east bound from Darby St to Watt St – 6.30am – 11.30pm (Detour in place)
oThe harbour side footpath and Tug Berth Rd along Wharf Rd from Watt St to Horseshoe Beach and the Pilot Station – closed 5am – 11.00am

Your residence or business is located in the above area. We would appreciate your co-operation and tolerance by refraining from parking or using these roads during this period. We will endeavour to open the roadway to traffic as soon as practical after each event. We are limiting number to comply with COVID guidelines and have a substantial COVID plan.
