TRIATHLON UPDATE FOR 2022-23 SEASON
If you have attended some of our previous Triathlon Events, there have been some date and format changes we just wanted to remind you about. Check out the main news items below and if you want more information read on or watch the 2021 wrap up videos further down the newsletter. We hope to see you racing in the Hunter again soon.

    1. ENTRIES OPEN NOW for the following distances:
      1. LONG (2000/60/15) - World AG Championship Qualifier Race
      2. STANDARD (1500/40/10)
      3. SPRINT (750/20/5) -World AG Championship Qualifier Race & TriNSW State Champs 
  2. NEW DATE - 29th annual Sparke Helmore Newcastle City Triathlon - Sun 20 Nov 2022 - NEWCASTLE
    1. ENTRIES OPEN 1 JULY for the following distances:
      1. ​SPRINT (750/21/5)
      2. ENTICER (350/10.5/2.5)
      3. NO OLYMPIC DISTANCE
      4. Big focus on Corporate and Family Teams.
      5. A great opportunity to have a healthy work pre Christmas get together! 
  3. ON AGAIN - 2nd annual Island Triathlon Festival - Fri 3 - Sun 5 Feb 2023 - STOCKTON
    1. ENTRIES OPEN 1 SEPTEMBER or the following distances:
      1. 7km FUN RUN - Friday
      2. AQUATHLON - Saturday (750M swim / 5km run)
      3. STANDARD (1500/40/10) - Sunday
      4. SPRINT (750/20/5) - Sunday
      5. Oceania Para Triathlon - Sunday (TBC)

QUARRY MINING MAITLAND TRIATHLON

After 24 years the Quarry Mining Maitland Triathlon has once again been rewarded by Triathlon Australia with Qualifying status in the Long and Sprint distance events for the 2023 World Age Group Championships. If State honours are more your goal, we are also the TriNSW State Long Course Championships for 2022.  Offering 3 events on it's original October date, Sun 9 Oct, the event will be a sell out with limited space in our transition area. Based in the Hunter Valley of NSW, the event is already popular with participants keen to get some racing under their belt in 2022. Set along the Hunter River in the historic township of Morpeth, near Maitland, just 2 hours north of Sydney, the event offers a friendly country feel in a professionally managed event. The swim is in the Hunter River, the 20km looped cycle course heads through the village and into lush farmland and the 2.5km looped run cements the events ‘country’ status with no shortage of cows on the course! Enter SOON so you don't miss out.

SPARKE HELMORE NEWCASTLE CITY TRIATHLON - 20 NOV 2022
ENTRIES OPEN 1 JULY 
 
 The 29th staging of this iconic Newcastle event will be back at a new time of  Sun 20 Nov 2022. The change was due to the unavailability of our usual venue area on the Foreshore in February. We are also making some fantastic changes to the event including the return of the combined relay team age categories (120+, 150+, 180+) and putting a huge emphasis on business teams and family participation. Close to Christmas this will be a great way to celebrate with your team in a healthy and positive environment.

ISLAND TRIATHLON
STOCKTON (NEAR NEWCASTLE)
3 - 5 FEB 2023

 After a wet start to it's existence, this new 3 day Triathlon Festival will continue in 2023 and hope for better weather and conditions. The event will be staged from the Foreshore of the beautiful coastal township of Stockton, which is located just 700m across the Harbour from Newcastle, the 6th biggest City in Australia. The event will offer a Friday evening Sunset 7km event, Aquathlon (Swim, Run only) on Saturday morning and Sprint, Standard and Oceania Paratriathlon event on the Sunday. The event will cater for novice or elite competitors and also offer relay team options. With the co-operation of the community we will be able to offer a beautiful flat fast course with a picturesque backdrop across to Newcastle, just a 5 min Ferry Ride away. 
Entries will be limited so don't miss this great new event in the heart of the Triathlon savvy Hunter Region.
PS For the record, Stockton is NOT an island....but feels like it is a world away from the City hustle.
